Sunan Ibn Majah 2783 (Book 24, Hadith 31) #32137
Fighting in the Cause of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ was asked about a man who fights for various reasons, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that whoever fights so that the Word of Allah may be supreme is fighting in the cause of Allah.

It was narrated that Abu Musa said: "The Prophet was asked about a man who fights to prove his courage, or out of pride and honour for his close relatives, or to show off. The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever fights so that the Word of Allah may be supreme is the one who (is fighting) in the cause of Allah.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive towards righteousness
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to us about fighting in the cause of Allah. It tells us that if someone is fighting for any reason other than to make sure that God's word is supreme, then they are not truly fighting in His cause. We learn from this hadith that we should strive to ensure God's word is respected and followed above all else. We should also remember to be humble and not fight out of pride or honor for our close relatives, as this does not bring glory to God. Instead, we should focus on making sure His word is respected and followed by all people.
