QUICK LESSONS:
Respect animals and protect people from harm when necessary .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's order to kill a salamander, which he said had blown fire on Abraham. This shows us that even though animals are generally respected in Islam, there are certain exceptions when it comes to protecting people from harm. In this case, the Prophet Muhammad saw fit to order the killing of this particular animal as it posed a threat to humans. Furthermore, this hadith also serves as an example of how Muslims should respect and honour their prophets such as Abraham who was mentioned in this hadith. It is important for Muslims to remember that they should always show respect and reverence towards their prophets no matter what form they take or what stories they tell about them.
