Compensatory Money for a Broken Tooth

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ ruled that the compensation for a broken tooth was five camels.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that : the Prophet ruled that (the compensatory money) for a tooth was five camels.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبَالِسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ النَّحْوِيُّ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَضَى فِي السِّنِّ خَمْسًا مِنَ الإِبِلِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the ruling of the Prophet (ﷺ) regarding compensatory money for a broken tooth. According to this hadith, the Prophet (ﷺ) ruled that if someone's tooth was broken due to another person's negligence or intentional action, then they must pay five camels as compensation. This ruling is based on Islamic law and is known as Qisas which means "retaliation". It is also part of Islamic tradition known as Sunnah which refers to teachings and practices of the Prophet (ﷺ). Therefore, this hadith teaches us that we should be responsible for our actions and take responsibility when we cause harm to others.
