The Story of Zakariyya the Carpenter

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) narrated a story about Zakariyya, who was a carpenter.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "Zakariyya was a carpenter".
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، وَالْحَجَّاجُ، وَالْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ جَمِيلٍ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ قَالَ ‏ "‏ كَانَ زَكَرِيَّا نَجَّارًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Hurairah and it tells us the story of Zakariyya. He was a carpenter and is mentioned in the Quran as well as in other Islamic texts. According to this hadith, he was also mentioned by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This hadith teaches us that even those who are not considered to be important or powerful can still be remembered and respected by Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. It also shows us that we should never underestimate anyone's potential or capabilities regardless of their profession or social status.
