QUICK LESSONS:
Keep your promises and be honest with your words even if its difficult or inconvenient for you
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about fulfilling vows in Islam. During the time of ignorance, people would make pledges or promises to do something for Allah, and when they became Muslim, they were unsure if they should still fulfill them. The Prophet advised 'Umar bin Khattab to fulfill his vow as it was an obligation upon him. This teaches us that we must always keep our promises and be honest with our words even if it is difficult or inconvenient for us. We must also remember that any promise we make to Allah should be fulfilled no matter what because He will reward us for it in this life and the hereafter.
