Sunan Ibn Majah 1778 (Book 7, Hadith 141) #31130
Taking Care of Loved Ones During Itikaf

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was in the mosque observing Itikaf and his wife 'Aishah would take care of him from her apartment while she was menstruating.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "The Messenger of Allah used to bring his head towards me when he was next door (observing I’tikaf), and I would wash it and comb his hair, when I was in my apartment and I was menstruating, and he was in the mosque".

QUICK LESSONS:
Take care of your loved ones during times when they need it most; Be mindful and respectful towards those who are going through their menstrual cycle; Do not let any physical or mental barriers stop you from helping out your loved ones when they are in need; Show compassion towards others regardless of their condition; Devote yourself to Allah during spiritual retreats such as Itikaf .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by 'Aishah tells us about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of observing Itikaf, which is a period of spiritual retreat and devotion to Allah. During this time, he would stay in the mosque for a certain number of days and nights. His wife, 'Aishah, would take care of him from her apartment even though she was menstruating at that time. This shows us how important it is to take care of our loved ones during times when they need it most. We should not let any physical or mental barriers stop us from helping them out when they are in need. This hadith also teaches us that we should be mindful and respectful towards those who are going through their menstrual cycle as well as other physical or mental conditions that may prevent them from taking part in certain activities or rituals.
