Seeking Refuge in Allah for Healing

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge from Allah using a specific set of words, and when he fell sick with his last sickness, 'Aishah recited these words while wiping his hand over his body.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "The Prophet used to seek refuge using the following words: 'Adhhibil-ba’s, Rabbin-nas, washfi Antash-shafi, la shifa’a illa shifa’uka, shifa’an la yughadiru saqaman (Take away the affliction, O Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer and there is no healing that leaves no sickness).’ When the Prophet fell sick with the sickness that would be his last, I took his hand and wiped it over his body and recited these words. He withdrew his hand from mine and said: 'O Allah, forgive me and let me meet the exalted companions (ie, those who occupy high positions in Paradise).’ Those were the last words of his that I heard".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of seeking refuge in Allah for healing. It was narrated by 'Aishah that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to seek refuge using a specific set of words, which translates to "Take away the affliction, O Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer and there is no healing that leaves no sickness". When he fell sick with his last sickness, 'Aishah took his hand and wiped it over his body while reciting these words. He withdrew his hand from hers and said "O Allah forgive me and let me meet the exalted companions". These were the last words she heard him say. This hadith teaches us that we should always turn to Allah in times of difficulty or illness as He is our only source of help. We should also make dua'a for those who are ill or suffering so they can be healed by His mercy.
