The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, taught us that there are three times during the day when it is forbidden to offer funeral prayers or bury our dead. These times are when the sun has fully risen until it is higher up in the sky, when it is overhead at noon until it has passed its meridian, and when it is starting to set until it has set. This teaches us that we should respect these times of day by not performing funerals during them as a sign of reverence for Allah's creation.
