The Benefits of Prostration to Allah

SUMMARY: Prostrating to Allah will raise one's status and erase one's sins.

Ma’dan bin Abu Talhah Al-Ya’muri said: "I met Thawban and said to him: 'Tell me a Hadith that Allah may benefit me thereby.’ But he remained silent. Then I said the same and he remained silent. That happened three times. Then he said to me: 'You should prostrate to Allah; for I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "No one prostrates to Allah but Allah will raise him one degree in status thereby and will erase one of his sins". Ma’dan said: "Then I met Abu Darda’ and asked him the same question, and he gave a similar answer".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the benefits of prostrating to Allah. It was narrated by Madan bin Abu Talhah Al-Yamuri, who said that he asked Thawban for a hadith that would benefit him, but Thawban remained silent three times before saying that if someone prostrates to Allah, then their status will be raised and one of their sins will be erased. Similarly, when Madan asked Abu Darda the same question, he gave a similar answer. This hadith teaches us the importance of prostrating to Allah as it can help us in our spiritual journey by raising our status and erasing our sins. We should strive to make prostration part of our daily routine so we can reap its rewards in this life and the hereafter.
