Sunan Ibn Majah 1398 (Book 5, Hadith 596) #30750
The Power of Prayer

SUMMARY: This hadith is about a man who committed an act that was less than adultery and Allah revealed the verse of the Quran to remind him to perform prayer at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Mas’ud that a man did something with a woman that was less than adultery; I do not know how far it went, but it was less than adultery. He went to the Prophet and told him about that. Then Allah revealed the words: "And perform the prayer, at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful". 11:114 He said: "O Messenger of Allah, is this only for me?" He said: "It is for everyone who acts upon it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray regularly at two ends of day and some hours during night

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a man who committed an act that was less than adultery. He went to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for guidance, and Allah revealed a verse from Quran as a reminder for him. The verse states “And perform the prayer, at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night. Verily, good deeds remove evil deeds” [ 11:114 ]. When he asked if this reminder was only for him, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ replied that it is for everyone who acts upon it. This hadith teaches us that prayer can be used as a tool to remove our sins and bad deeds from our record if we are mindful enough to do so regularly. It also reminds us how powerful prayers are; they can even erase sins! We should make sure we pray regularly so we can benefit from its power in our lives.
