It was narrated from 'Amir that Qais bin Sa’d said: "There is nothing that happened during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except that I have seen it, except for one thing, which is that Taqlis* was performed for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Day of Fitr. (Three other chains of narration) with similar wording. *Taqlis means to indulge in celebrations on a festive occasion.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also taught us the importance of moderation when celebrating these occasions, so we should not go overboard with our celebrations or spend too much money unnecessarily. We should also remember that although we can enjoy ourselves during these times, we must still remain mindful of our religious obligations such as prayer and fasting during Ramadan.
