Praying Two Rakah After Eid Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad did not pray before the Eid prayer, but when he returned home he would pray two Rakah.

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri said: "The Messenger of Allah did not pray before the 'Eid prayer, but when he went back to his house he would pray two Rak’ah".
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ جَمِيلٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الرَّقِّيِّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ لاَ يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الْعِيدِ شَيْئًا فَإِذَا رَجَعَ إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ

This hadith tells us that the Prophet Muhammad did not pray before the 'Eid prayer, but when he went back to his house he would pray two Rakah. We should take time out of our day to reflect on our blessings and thank Allah for them.
