The Power of Prostration

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the power of prostration and how it can lead to Paradise, while Satan's refusal to prostrate leads him to Hell.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'When a son of Adam recites a Sajdah* and prostrates, Satan withdraws weeping, saying: 'Woe is me! The son of Adam was commanded to prostrate and he prostrated, and Paradise will be his; I was commanded to prostrate and I refused, so I am doomed to Hell.’" * An Ayah indicating prostration.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of prostration and its importance in Islam. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Prophet Muhammad said that when a son of Adam recites a verse from the Quran which requires them to prostrate and they do so, Satan withdraws weeping saying "Woe is me! The son of Adam was commanded to prostrate and he prostrated, and Paradise will be his; I was commanded to prostrate and I refused so I am doomed for Hell." This hadith teaches us that if we follow Allah’s commands then we will be rewarded with paradise. It also teaches us that if we disobey Allah’s commands then we will be punished with hellfire. We should always strive to obey Allah’s commands in order for us to receive His blessings in this life as well as in the hereafter.
