Prostration in Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ used to perform prayer in the presence of his wife, Maimunah, and his garment would sometimes touch her when he prostrated.

Maimunah, the wife of the Prophet , said: "The Prophet used to perform prayer when I was opposite to him, and his garment would sometimes touch me when he prostrated".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي مَيْمُونَةُ، زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ـ ـ قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ـ ـ يُصَلِّي وَأَنَا بِحِذَائِهِ وَرُبَّمَا أَصَابَنِي ثَوْبُهُ إِذَا سَجَدَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of prayer and how it should be performed. It is narrated by Maimunah, who was the wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. During prayer time, she would be present opposite to him and his garment would sometimes touch her when he prostrated. This shows that even during a sacred act like prayer one should maintain proper etiquette and not cause any discomfort or inconvenience to others around them. It also teaches us that we should always strive for humility while praying as it is an act of worship towards Allah SWT.
