Sunan Ibn Majah 952 (Book 5, Hadith 150) #30304
Disruptions to Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith explains that a prayer can be disrupted by the presence of a woman, donkey or black dog, unless there is something like the handle of a saddle in front of the man.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Samit from Abu Dharr, that the Prophet said: "The prayer is severed by a woman, a donkey, and a black dog, if there is not something like the handle of a saddle in front of a man". I ('Abdullah) said: "What is wrong with a black dog and not a red one?" He (Abu Dharr) said: 'I asked the Messenger of Allah the same question, and he said: "The black dog is a Shaitan (satan)".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that when one is praying, their prayer can be disrupted by the presence of a woman, donkey or black dog. However, if there is something like the handle of a saddle in front of them then this disruption will not occur. The Prophet Muhammad also explained that black dogs are associated with Satan and thus should be avoided during prayer. This hadith teaches us to take precautions when praying and to ensure we are not distracted by any external factors which could disrupt our concentration and connection with Allah. We should also strive to avoid anything associated with Satan as it can lead us away from Allah's path and mercy.
