Reciting Al-Fatihah and a Surah in Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that it is necessary to recite Al-Fatihah and a Surah in every Rakah of prayer, whether obligatory or voluntary.

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'There is no prayer for the one who does not recite in every Rak’ah: Al-Hamd (Al-Fatihah) and a Surah whether in an obligatory prayer or another.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Recite Al-Fatihah and a sura in each rak'a when praying .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught the importance of reciting certain verses from the Quran during prayer. He said that it is necessary to recite Al-Fatihah, which is the first chapter of the Quran, and another sura in every rak'a or unit of prayer. This applies to both obligatory prayers such as Fajr or Maghrib, as well as voluntary prayers such as Tahajjud or Duha. By reciting these verses during prayer, Muslims are reminded of Allah's greatness and mercy while also being able to reflect on their own lives and actions. This helps them stay connected with Allah throughout their day by taking time out for worshiping Him regularly.
