Reciting Verses After Zuhr Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite verses from Surat Luqman and Adh-Dhariyat after leading the Zuhr prayer.

It was narrated that Bara’ bin 'Azib said: "The Messenger of Allah used to lead us for the Zuhr, and we would hear him reciting a Verse after the Verses from Surat Luqman (31) and Adh-Dhariyat (51)".
حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ، عَنْ هَاشِمِ بْنِ الْبَرِيدِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ يُصَلِّي بِنَا الظُّهْرَ فَنَسْمَعُ مِنْهُ الآيَةَ بَعْدَ الآيَاتِ مِنْ سُورَةِ لُقْمَانَ وَالذَّارِيَاتِ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known for his exemplary character and devotion to Allah. He would lead the people in prayer during the Zuhr time and afterwards he would recite verses from two surahs of the Quran - namely surahs Luqman and Adh-Dhariyat. This is a reminder for us that we should always strive to increase our knowledge of the Quran by reciting it regularly. We should also take time out of our day to remember Allah through prayer as this will bring us closer to Him. By following in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet Muhammad we can ensure that we are living a life that pleases Allah and brings us closer to Him.
