Staying Up After Isha Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) rebuked his companions for staying up and talking after the Isha prayer.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud said: "The Messenger of Allah rebuked us for staying up (talking) after the 'Isha'".
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ جَدَبَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ السَّمَرَ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ ‏.‏ قَالَ ابْنُ مَاجَهْ يَعْنِي زَجَرَنَا عَنْهُ نَهَانَا عَنْهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abdullah bin Mas'ud tells us that the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, rebuked his companions for staying up late at night and talking after the Isha prayer. This hadith teaches us that we should not stay up late at night and talk unnecessarily as it is a waste of time. We should instead use our time to pray or do something productive. It also teaches us to respect the Prophet's teachings and follow them in order to gain Allah's blessings.
