Praying Without Ablution

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ate some meat from the shoulder of a sheep and then prayed without performing ablution.

It was narrated that Umm Salamah said: "Some meat from the shoulder of a sheep was brought to the Messenger of Allah and he ate some of it, then he performed prayer without touching water (for ablution)".
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ بِكَتِفِ شَاةٍ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ وَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَمَسَّ مَاءً

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an incident in which the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ate some meat from the shoulder of a sheep and then proceeded to pray without performing ablution. This hadith serves as an example for Muslims that it is permissible to perform prayer without ablution if one is unable to do so due to certain circumstances. It also teaches us that we should not be too strict with ourselves when it comes to religious obligations and that Allah will forgive us if we are unable to fulfill them due to certain reasons. Furthermore, this hadith also serves as a reminder for us that even though prayer is important, it should not be done at the expense of our health or wellbeing.
