Guidance from the Companions on Judgement Day

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that anyone of his companions who dies in a land will be resurrected as a guide and light for the people of that land on the Day of Judgement.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Buraidah: from his father, that the Messenger of Allah said: "There is no one among my Companions who dies in a land except that he shall be resurrected as a guide and light for them (people of that land) on the Day of Resurrection".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ نَاجِيَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ أَبِي طَيْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِي يَمُوتُ بِأَرْضٍ إِلاَّ بُعِثَ قَائِدًا وَنُورًا لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏"‏ ‏. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ ‏.‏ وَرُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ أَبِي طَيْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ مُرْسَلاً وَهُوَ أَصَحُّ

It also shows us how important it is to stay close to Prophet Muhammad's teachings even after death because it can bring great rewards in the afterlife. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us about how we should strive to live our lives according to Islamic principles so we can receive similar rewards when we die too!
