Comforting Trees

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ gave his sermon next to a tree and then they made a Minbar for him. The tree was sad so the Prophet ﷺ rubbed it and it quieted.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: "The Messenger of Allah used to give Khutbah next to a tree, and then they made a Minbar for him, so he gave khutbahs on it, so the tree whimpered like a camel. So the Prophet rubbed it, and it quieted".

QUICK LESSONS:
Show kindness towards all living things including nature .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's kindness towards nature. He used to give his sermon next to a tree, but then they made a minbar for him, which is an elevated platform from which he could give his sermons. When the tree saw that he was no longer giving sermons near it, it started to whimper like a camel in distress. In response, the Prophet Muhammad rubbed the tree gently and comforted it until it quieted down again. This hadith teaches us that we should be kind and compassionate towards all living things, even if they are not human beings or animals; we should show respect for nature as well as our fellow humans. It also shows us how important kindness is in Islam; even something as small as comforting a distressed tree can have an impact on our lives and those around us.
