Jami at-Tirmidhi 3236 (Book 47, Hadith 288) #28885
Disputes on the Day of Judgement

SUMMARY: On the Day of Resurrection, people will be held accountable for their disputes and arguments in this world.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair: from his father who said: "When (the following) was revealed: 'Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will be disputing before your Lord (39:31)'. Az-Zubair said "O Messenger of Allah! We will repeat our disputes after what happened between us in the world?" He said: "Yes". So he said: "Indeed this is a very serious matter".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about accountability on the Day of Judgement. It is narrated by Abdullah bin Az-Zubair from his father who asked Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about a verse in the Quran which states that people will be disputing before their Lord on the Day of Resurrection. The Prophet ﷺ confirmed that this would indeed happen and it was a serious matter to consider. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions and words as we will be held accountable for them in front of Allah SWT on the day when all secrets are revealed. We should strive to resolve our disputes peacefully and not let them linger until judgement day, as it may have dire consequences then. We must also remember that Allah SWT knows all things, so even if we think something has been forgotten or hidden away, He knows what happened and how it was resolved or not resolved here in this world.
