Avoiding Mockery and Throwing Pebbles

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ warned against mocking people of the land and throwing pebbles at them.

Narrated Umm Hani: that regarding Allah's saying: '.And you practice evil in your meetings. (29:29) that the Prophet said: "They would throw pebbles at people of the land and make a mockery of them".
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ السَّهْمِيُّ، عَنْ حَاتِمِ بْنِ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى ‏:‏ ‏(‏أتَأْتُونَ فِي نَادِيكُمُ الْمُنْكَرَ ‏)‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ كَانُوا يَخْذِفُونَ أَهْلَ الأَرْضِ وَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ إِنَّمَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ حَاتِمِ بْنِ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ‏.‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ أَخْضَرَ، عَنْ حَاتِمِ بْنِ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith warns us against mocking people of the land and throwing pebbles at them. It is narrated by Umm Hani, who reported that the Prophet said regarding Allah's saying in Surah Al-Ankabut, “And you practice evil in your meetings” that they would throw pebbles at people of the land and make a mockery of them. This hadith teaches us to be respectful towards others, regardless of their social status or background. We should not mock or ridicule anyone, nor should we throw stones or any other objects at them as this is considered an evil act. Instead, we should treat everyone with kindness and respect as this is what Allah expects from us as believers.
