Sahih al-Bukhari 3011 (Book 56, Hadith 220) #2880
Double Reward for Good Deeds

SUMMARY: A person who educates and marries a slave girl, a believer from the people of the scriptures who believes in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and a slave who is sincere to his master will receive double reward.

Narrated Abu Burda's father: The Prophet said, "Three persons will get their reward twice. (One is) a person who has a slave girl and he educates her properly and teaches her good manners properly (without violence) and then manumits and marries her. Such a person will get a double reward. (Another is) a believer from the people of the scriptures who has been a true believer and then he believes in the Prophet (Muhammad). Such a person will get a double reward. (The third is) a slave who observes Allah's Rights and Obligations and is sincere to his master".

QUICK LESSONS:
Educate those less fortunate than us; Be loyal to our masters even when we are slaves; Believe in Prophet Muhammad PBUH; Do good deeds with sincerity

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about three different types of people that will receive double reward from Allah. The first type is someone who has a slave girl, educates her properly without violence, manumits her, and then marries her. The second type is someone from the people of the scriptures who was already a true believer but then also believes in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The third type is someone who is a slave but still observes Allah's Rights and Obligations and remains sincere to his master. This hadith teaches us that if we do good deeds such as educating those less fortunate than us or being loyal to our masters even when we are slaves, we will be rewarded twice by Allah for our efforts. It also shows us that it doesn't matter what religion you follow or what your social status may be; if you do good deeds with sincerity, you will be rewarded by Allah for it.
