Accepting Allah's Charity

SUMMARY: Allah has given us charity in the form of shortening prayer when we are in fear and the people are safe.

Narrated Ya'la bin Umayyah: "I said to 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: 'Allah said: That you shorten the Salat if you fear and the people are safe (4:101)'. So 'Umar said: 'I wondered about that just as you have wondered. So I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah , and he said: "It is charity which Allah has given to you, so accept His charity".

QUICK LESSONS:
Accept God's gifts with gratitude even if you don't understand them at first .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about accepting Allah's charity. In this hadith, Ya'la bin Umayyah asked 'Umar bin Al-Khattab about a verse from the Quran which states that if you fear for yourself or others, you can shorten your prayer. 'Umar was unsure of what this meant so he asked the Prophet Muhammad who said that it is a charity from Allah and should be accepted. This means that when we are in fear or danger, we can shorten our prayers as an act of mercy from God and to protect ourselves and others. It also teaches us to accept God's gifts with gratitude even if we don't understand them at first.
