Jami at-Tirmidhi 2955 (Book 47, Hadith 7) #28604
The Diversity of Mankind

SUMMARY: Allah created Adam from a handful of earth, and the children of Adam come in different colors, shapes, and sizes.

Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari: that the Messenger of Allah said: "Indeed Allah Most High created Adam from a handful that He took from all of the earth. So the children of Adam come in according with the earth, some of them come red, and white and black, and between that, and the thin, the thick, the filthy, and the clean".

QUICK LESSONS:
Accept and appreciate diversity among mankind as it is part of Allah's creation .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the diversity of mankind. It tells us that Allah created Adam from a handful taken from all parts of the earth. This means that all people are connected to each other through their common ancestor, Adam. The hadith also tells us that people come in different colors, shapes and sizes - some are red or white or black; some are thin or thick; some are clean or filthy. This teaches us to accept and appreciate this diversity among mankind as it is part of Allah's creation. We should not judge others based on their physical appearance but rather look at what is inside them - their character and values - which is what really matters in life.
