Jami at-Tirmidhi 2624 (Book 40, Hadith 19) #28259
The Sweetness of Faith

SUMMARY: The hadith emphasizes the importance of loving Allah and His Messenger, loving for the sake of Allah, and hating to return to disbelief after being saved from it.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: that the Messenger of Allah said: "There are three things for which whomever has them, then he has tasted the sweetness of faith: The one for whom Allah and His Messenger are more beloved than anything else; whoever loves someone and he does not love him except for the sake of Allah, and whoever hates to return to disbelief after Allah has saved him from it, just as he hates to be thrown into fire".

Loving someone only for the sake of Allah is also important as it shows that one's love is not based on worldly desires but rather on spiritual ones. Additionally, this hadith teaches us to hate returning to disbelief after being saved from it just as we would hate being thrown into fire. This shows how serious we should be about our faith and how much effort we should put into maintaining it.
