Sahih al-Bukhari 2937 (Book 56, Hadith 150) #2810
Praying for Guidance Instead of Punishment

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked to invoke Allah against the people of the tribe of Daus who had disobeyed and refused to follow him, but instead he prayed for them to be guided and embrace Islam.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Tufail bin 'Amr Ad-Dausi and his companions came to the Prophet and said, "O Allah's Messenger ! The people of the tribe of Daus disobeyed and refused to follow you; so invoke Allah against them". The people said, "The tribe of Daus is ruined". The Prophet said, "O Allah! Give guidance to the people of Daus, and let them embrace Islam".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray for guidance instead of punishment even if you are wronged or hurt by someone else .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ responded when he was asked by Tufail bin 'Amr Ad-Dausi and his companions to invoke Allah against a group of people who had disobeyed him. Instead of asking for punishment, he prayed that they would be given guidance and embrace Islam. This teaches us that we should always strive for peace rather than revenge or punishment, even when we are wronged or hurt by someone else. We should pray that those who have done wrong will find their way back onto the right path, rather than wishing harm upon them. It also shows us how merciful and forgiving our beloved Prophet ﷺ was in all situations, no matter how difficult they may have been.
