Adhering to Prophet Muhammad's Teachings

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of adhering to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) and how Allah will always protect those who follow his teachings until the Day of Judgement.

Mu'awiyah bin Qurrah narrated from his father that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: "When the inhabitants of Ash-Sham become corrupt, then there is no good in it for you. There will never cease to be a group in my Ummah who will be helped(by Allah), they will not be harmed by those who forsake them until the Hour is established". Muhammad bin Isma'il said: "Ali bin Al-Madini said: 'They are the people of Hadith"'.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Allah will always protect those who adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad until the Day of Judgement. It was narrated by Mu'awiyah bin Qurrah from his father that the Messenger of Allah said, "When people in Ash-Sham become corrupt, then there is no good in it for you." In this part of the hadith, it is warning us against following a path that leads away from righteousness and piety as it will not benefit us in any way. The second part states that there will never cease to be a group in my Ummah who will be helped by Allah and they won't be harmed by those who forsake them until the Hour is established". This part emphasizes on how Allah has promised protection for those who remain steadfast on His path even if others abandon them or turn away from them. Ali bin Al Madini further explains that these people are known as 'the people of Hadith'. This means that they are devoted followers and believers in Prophet Muhammad's teachings which have been passed down through generations via narrations or Hadiths.
