Resurrection Based on Intentions

SUMMARY: The Prophet (s.a.w) mentioned an army that the earth would swallow, and Umm Salamah asked if there were those among them who were averse to it. He replied that they will be resurrected on their intentions.

Umm Salamah narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) mentioned the army that the earth would swallow, so Umm Salamah said: 'Perhaps there are those among them who are averse to it". He said: "They will be resurrected on their intentions".

QUICK LESSONS:
Have good intentions in life

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of having good intentions in life, as one's resurrection will be based on their intentions. The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) was speaking about an army that the earth would swallow when Umm Salamah asked if there were those among them who were averse to it - meaning, those who did not want to participate in this event or have bad intentions towards it - and he replied that they will be resurrected on their intentions; meaning, whatever intention they had at the time of this event is what will determine how they are resurrected afterwards. This teaches us that our actions should always come from a place of good intention and sincerity; even if we do not get what we want out of something, our good intention can still bring us rewards in the afterlife as long as we remain sincere and honest with ourselves and others throughout our lives.
