Jami at-Tirmidhi 2076 (Book 28, Hadith 41) #27709
Prohibiting Al-Ghilah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) wanted to prohibit Al-Ghilah, but the Persians and Romans were already doing it and they did not kill their children.

Aishah narrated from Wahb's daughter - and she is Judamah - who said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) saying: 'I wanted to prohibit Al-Ghilah, but the Persians and Romans did it, and they did not kill their children'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Be careful when making decisions or prohibiting something; Be aware of our own cultural practices; Make sure no one gets hurt in the process of following them

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's desire to prohibit a certain practice called Al-Ghilah. The practice was already being done by the Persians and Romans at that time, but they did not kill their children in the process. This hadith teaches us that we should be careful when making decisions or prohibiting something because it may have been done before us in a different way without any harm coming to people or children involved in it. We should also be aware of our own cultural practices so that we can make sure that no one gets hurt in the process of following them.
