Rewards of Avoiding Lying, Arguing and Having Good Character

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the rewards of avoiding lying, arguing and having good character.

Anas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever avoids lying while he is doing so falsely, a house will be built for him on the skirts of Paradise. Whoever avoids arguing while he is in the right, a house will be built for him in its midst. And whoever has good character, a house will be built for him in its heights".
حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ الْعَمِّيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ وَرْدَانَ اللَّيْثِيُّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَنْ تَرَكَ الْكَذِبَ وَهُوَ بَاطِلٌ بُنِيَ لَهُ فِي رَبَضِ الْجَنَّةِ وَمَنْ تَرَكَ الْمِرَاءَ وَهُوَ مُحِقٌّ بُنِيَ لَهُ فِي وَسَطِهَا وَمَنْ حَسَّنَ خُلُقَهُ بُنِيَ لَهُ فِي أَعْلاَهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ وَرْدَانَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

This hadith by Anas bin Malik talks about the rewards for avoiding lying, arguing and having good character. It states that whoever avoids lying while he is doing so falsely will be rewarded with a house on the skirts of Paradise. Similarly, whoever avoids arguing while he is in the right will be rewarded with a house in its midst. Lastly, whoever has good character will be rewarded with a house in its heights. This hadith encourages us to stay away from lies and arguments even if we are right as it can lead to great rewards from Allah SWT. It also teaches us to have good character as it can lead to great blessings from Allah SWT too.
