Sahih al-Bukhari 2877 (Book 56, Hadith 93) #2753
The Power of Prayer

SUMMARY: A woman asked the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to be included in a group of his followers who were sailing on the sea for Allah's cause, and he granted her wish.

Narrated Anas: Allah's Messenger went to the daughter of Milhan and reclined there (and slept) and then (woke up) smiling. She asked, "O Allah's Messenger ! What makes you smile?" He replied, (I dreamt that) some people amongst my followers were sailing on the green sea in Allah's Cause, resembling kings on thrones". She said, "O Allah's Messenger ! Invoke Allah to make me one of them". He said, "O Allah! Let her be one of them". Then he (slept again and woke up and) smiled. She asked him the same question and he gave the same reply. She said, "Invoke Allah to make me one of them". He replied, ''You will be amongst the first group of them; you will not be amongst the last". Later on she married 'Ubada bin As-Samit and then she sailed on the sea with bint Qaraza, Mu'awiya's wife (for Jihad). On her return, she mounted her riding animal, which threw her down breaking her neck, and she died on falling down.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a woman who asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to be included in a group of his followers who were sailing on the sea for Allah's cause. The Prophet ﷺ smiled when he heard her request and granted it, telling her that she would be amongst the first group. Later on, she married 'Ubada bin As-Samit and sailed with Mu'awiya's wife for Jihad. Unfortunately, she died while returning from this journey when her riding animal threw her off and broke her neck. This hadith teaches us that if we have faith in God and make sincere prayers to Him, He will answer them even if they seem impossible at first glance. It also shows us how important it is to strive for His cause as this woman was willing to risk everything just so she could serve Him better. Lastly, it reminds us that no matter how much we plan or prepare ourselves for something, our ultimate fate lies in God’s hands alone as He knows what’s best for us all.
