The Sanctity of Makkah

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ declared that the city of Makkah should not be fought over until the Day of Judgement.

Narrated Al-Harith bin Malik bin Al-Barsa: "On the day of the Conquest of Makkah, I heard the Prophet saying: 'This is not to be battled over after today, until the Day of Judgement'." Abu 'Eisa said: There are narrations on this topic from Ibn 'Abbas, Sulaiman bin Surad, and Muti' This Hadith is Hasan Sahih, and it is a narration of Zakariyya bin Abi Za'idah from Ash-Sha'bi, we do not know of it except from his narration.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْبَرْصَاءِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ لاَ تُغْزَى هَذِهِ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَسُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ صُرَدٍ وَمُطِيعٍ ‏.‏ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَهُوَ حَدِيثُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the sanctity and importance of the city of Makkah. It was narrated by Al-Harith bin Malik bin Al-Barsa that on the day when Makkah was conquered by Muslims under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ he declared that it should not be fought over again until the Day of Judgement. This hadith is Hasan Sahih and it has been narrated from other sources as well such as Ibn 'Abbas and Sulaiman bin Surad. This hadith teaches us to respect and honor places which are sacred in Islam such as Makkah and to refrain from any kind of violence or fighting in these places even if we have differences with others. It also reminds us about our ultimate accountability before Allah on the Day Of Judgement for all our actions in this world.
