QUICK LESSONS:
Give your newborn child an 'aqiqa on the seventh day; Give your newborn child a name; Shave some of your newborn's hair; Show gratitude towards Allah SWT; Raise your children according to Islamic teachings.

EXPLANATIONS:
According to the hadith narrated by Samurah, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that when a baby is born, it should be given an 'Aqiqah on the seventh day. An 'Aqiqah is a sacrifice made for newborn babies in Islam which involves slaughtering two sheep or goats for boys and one sheep or goat for girls. This act symbolizes gratitude to Allah for blessing them with this child. In addition to this, it is also important to give the baby a name as soon as possible after birth as it has spiritual significance in Islam. Finally, shaving off some of their hair is also recommended as part of this tradition which symbolizes purification and cleansing from any impurities they may have inherited from their parents. All these acts are important in order to ensure that children start off life with blessings from Allah SWT and are raised according to Islamic teachings.
