Jami at-Tirmidhi 1318 (Book 14, Hadith 122) #26895
Repaying Kindness and Generosity

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that it is important to repay people for their kindness and generosity, even if the repayment is not equal.

Narrated Abu Rafi', the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah : "The Messenger of Allah got a camel in advance. Some camels from the charity". Abu Rafi' said: "So the Messenger of Allah told me to pay the man back for his camel. I said: 'I did not find among the camels but a superior selection of Raba'. The Messenger of Allah said: 'Give it to him, for indeed the base of people is the best of them in repaying'." Abu 'Eisa said: This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.

QUICK LESSONS:
Try your best to repay people for their kindness and generosity even if what you are giving them back is not equal in value or quantity

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us an important lesson about repaying kindness and generosity. The Prophet Muhammad was given a camel in advance as charity from someone else. When he asked his freed slave Abu Rafi' to pay back the man for his camel, Abu Rafi' said he did not have any camels but only a superior selection of Raba'. The Prophet then told him to give it to him anyway because it is important to repay people for their kindness and generosity even if what you are giving them back is not equal in value or quantity. This hadith shows us that we should always be grateful for what others do for us and try our best to repay them in whatever way we can. It also teaches us that being generous with others will bring blessings into our lives as well since we will be rewarded by Allah when we are kind and generous towards others.
