Greeting the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a man who was sent by his father to greet the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Prophet responded with peace upon him and his father.

Narrated A man: Ghalib said: When we were sitting at al-Hasan's door, a man came along. He said: My father told me on the authority of my grandfather, saying: My father sent me to the Messenger of Allah and said: Go to him and give him a greeting. So I went to him and said: My father sends you a greeting. He said: Upon you and upon your father be peace.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ غَالِبٍ، قَالَ إِنَّا لَجُلُوسٌ بِبَابِ الْحَسَنِ إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي قَالَ بَعَثَنِي أَبِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ ائْتِهِ فَأَقْرِئْهُ السَّلاَمَ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ أَبِي يُقْرِئُكَ السَّلاَمَ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أَبِيكَ السَّلاَمُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a man who was sent by his father to greet the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). When he arrived, he greeted the prophet and in response, the prophet gave him peace upon himself and his father. This hadith teaches us that it is important to show respect when greeting someone. It also shows us that we should be respectful towards our parents as they are deserving of our respect. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us that we should always respond positively when someone greets us with kindness or salutations. We can learn from this example how we should treat others with respect and kindness even if they are not related to us or do not share our beliefs.
