The Virtues of Good Deeds

SUMMARY: Doing good deeds with the intention of pleasing Allah will lead to Paradise.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: That Allah's Messenger said, "There are forty virtuous deeds and the best of them is the Maniha of a she-goat, and anyone who does one of these virtuous deeds hoping for Allah's reward with firm confidence that he will get it, then Allah will make him enter Paradise because of Hassan (a subnarrator) said, "We tried to count those good deeds below the Maniha; we mentioned replying to the sneezer, removing harmful things from the road, etc., but we failed to count even fifteen".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of doing good deeds in order to please Allah and receive His reward. It is narrated by Abdullah bin 'Amr that Prophet Muhammad said that there are forty virtuous deeds, and the best one is offering a she-goat as a sacrifice. He also said that anyone who does any of these virtuous deeds with firm confidence in Allah's reward will be granted entrance into Paradise. Hassan, a subnarrator, then tried to count all these good deeds but failed to even reach fifteen. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to do good and have faith in Allah's promise for those who do so; it also encourages us to perform acts of kindness such as replying when someone sneezes or removing harmful things from roads for others' safety and benefit.
