Disagreement Among Muslims

SUMMARY: In the event of a disagreement between Muslims, one of the two parties that is closer to the truth will kill the emerging sect.

Abu Sa’id reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying: In the event of the dissension among Muslims an emerging sect will emerge ; one of the two parties that is nearer to the truth will kill it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for truth and justice in dealings with others . Avoid creating new sects or ideas due to disagreements .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about disagreements among Muslims and how it should be handled. It states that if there is a disagreement between two Muslim parties, one of them which is closer to the truth should kill off any emerging sects. This means that if there are two sides in an argument and one side has more evidence or proof than the other, then they should be able to put down any new sects or ideas which may arise from this disagreement. The hadith also teaches us that we must always strive for truth and justice in our dealings with others, even when we disagree with them. We must not allow our differences to lead us into creating new sects or ideas which could potentially cause further divisions within our community.
