Blood-Wit for Accidental Killing

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave a ruling that if someone is killed accidentally, the blood-wit should be one hundred camels of different ages.

Narrated 'Amr b. Suh'aib: On his father's authority, said that his grandfather reported the Messenger of Allah gave judgment that if anyone is killed accidentally, his blood-wit should be one hundred camels: thirty she-camels which had entered their second year, thirty she-camels which had entered their third year, thirty she-camels which had entered their fourth year, and ten male camels which had entered their third year.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي الزَّرْقَاءِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَضَى أَنَّ مَنْ قُتِلَ خَطَأً فَدِيَتُهُ مِائَةٌ مِنَ الإِبِلِ ثَلاَثُونَ بِنْتَ مَخَاضٍ وَثَلاَثُونَ بِنْتَ لَبُونٍ وَثَلاَثُونَ حِقَّةً وَعَشْرَةٌ بَنِي لَبُونٍ ذَكَرٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the ruling given by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding accidental killing and the payment of blood-wit or diyya. According to this hadith, if someone is killed accidentally, then the family of the deceased must be compensated with one hundred camels which are divided into four categories; thirty she-camels which have entered their second year, thirty she-camels which have entered their third year, thirty she-camels which have entered their fourth year and ten male camels which have entered their third year. This ruling was given to ensure justice and fairness in cases where an accidental death has occurred. It teaches us that we must always strive for justice and fairness in all matters even when it comes to compensation for an accidental death.
