QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to ensure fairness and equality when dealing with others no matter what their circumstances may be.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the concept of retaliation and slavery. It was narrated from Hisham, from Qatadah, from Al-Hasan that a free man should not be subjected to retaliation in return for a slave. This means that if someone commits an offense against another person who is a slave, then the offender cannot be punished with the same offense as it would be done if they were both free men. The punishment must fit the crime and must take into account any differences between those involved such as their social status or freedom. This hadith teaches us that justice must always prevail regardless of one's social standing or freedom status. We should always strive to ensure fairness and equality when dealing with others no matter what their circumstances may be.
