Punishment for Marrying Father's Wife

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sent a man to punish someone who had married his father's wife.

Narrated Al-Bara' ibn Azib: I met my uncle who was carrying a standard. I asked him: Where are you going? He said: The Messenger of Allah has sent me to a man who has married his father's wife. He has ordered me to cut off his head and take his property.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the punishment that was given to someone who married their father’s wife. According to this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sent a man with a standard to punish the person who committed this act. The punishment was that his head should be cut off and all of his property taken away from him. This shows us how serious it is in Islam not to marry your father’s wife, as it is considered one of the major sins in Islam and will be punished severely if done so. It also teaches us that we should always obey Allah and His Messenger, as they have our best interests at heart even when we don't understand why something has been commanded or prohibited by them.
