Praising the Blessings of Maiz

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ praised the smell of Maiz and declared it to be a food with many blessings.

Buraidah said. : The Prophet smelt the breath of Ma’iz.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ غَيْلاَنَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ اسْتَنْكَهَ مَاعِزًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the blessings found in food and how we should appreciate them. The Prophet (ﷺ) smelt the scent of Maiz and asked what it was. When he was told that it was from a type of food called 'Maiz', he praised its scent and declared that it contained many blessings. This hadith teaches us to be grateful for all types of foods as they contain many blessings from Allah SWT which we should appreciate and enjoy with thankfulness in our hearts. We should also remember to thank Allah SWT for providing us with these foods so that we can nourish our bodies properly and stay healthy.
