EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the punishment given by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to a woman who used to borrow goods and deny having received them. The Prophet ﷺ gave orders that her hand be cut off as punishment for lying. He then asked if there was any woman present who would repent and turn back to Allah and His Apostle but she did not get up or speak. This hadith teaches us that lying is a serious offense in Islam and it should be avoided at all costs as it can lead to severe punishments like this one. It also shows us how merciful the Prophet ﷺ was even when punishing someone; he gave her an opportunity to repent before carrying out his order so that she could avoid such a harsh punishment if she chose too.
