Sunan Abi Dawud 3742 (Book 28, Hadith 7) #24032
Inviting the Rich and Excluding the Poor at Weddings

SUMMARY: It is wrong to invite only the rich to a wedding feast and exclude the poor. Not attending a wedding feast one was invited to is disobeying Allah and His Prophet.

Abu Hurairah said: The worst kind of food is that at a wedding feast to which the rich are invited and from which the poor are left out. If anyone does not attend the feast to which he was invited, he has disobeyed Allah and His Apostle (may peace upon him).

QUICK LESSONS:
Extend invitations equally regardless of wealth or poverty
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from Abu Hurairah teaches us that it is wrong to invite only those who are wealthy or well-off to a wedding feast while excluding those who are poor or less fortunate. Not attending a wedding feast one was invited to is also considered disobeying Allah and His Prophet. This hadith emphasizes that we should be mindful of our actions when it comes to inviting people for celebrations such as weddings; we should not discriminate against anyone based on their financial status or social standing but rather extend our invitations equally regardless of wealth or poverty. We must remember that all people are equal in the eyes of Allah and should be treated with respect and kindness regardless of their background or financial situation.
