Sahih al-Bukhari 233 (Book 4, Hadith 99) #233
Punishment for Disobeying Allah's Commands

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) ordered some people of 'Ukl or 'Uraina tribe to drink the milk and urine of camels as a medicine, but they instead killed the shepherd and drove away all the camels. As punishment, their hands and feet were cut off, their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron, and they were put in 'Al-Harra'.

Narrated Abu Qilaba: Anas said, "Some people of 'Ukl or 'Uraina tribe came to Medina and its climate did not suit them. So the Prophet ordered them to go to the herd of (Milch) camels and to drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they went as directed and after they became healthy, they killed the shepherd of the Prophet and drove away all the camels. The news reached the Prophet early in the morning and he sent (men) in their pursuit and they were captured and brought at noon. He then ordered to cut their hands and feet (and it was done), and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron, They were put in 'Al-Harra' and when they asked for water, no water was given to them". Abu Qilaba said, "Those people committed theft and murder, became infidels after embracing Islam and fought against Allah and His Apostle ".

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey Allah’s commands even if it seems difficult

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a group of people from the Ukl or Uraina tribe who came to Medina. The climate did not suit them so the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ordered them to drink milk and urine from camels as a medicine. Instead of following his orders, they killed the shepherd who was looking after the camels and drove away all of them. When this news reached him early in the morning he sent men in pursuit who captured them at noon. He then ordered that their hands and feet be cut off as punishment for disobeying Allah's commands, branding their eyes with heated pieces of iron before putting them in Al-Harra prison where no water was given to them. This hadith teaches us that we must always obey Allah's commands even if it seems difficult because disobedience will lead to severe punishments both in this world and hereafter. We should also remember that stealing is wrong no matter what form it takes - whether it be money or animals - because it is an act against Allah's laws which will result in severe consequences if not repented for sincerely.
