Stand up for yourself if something is not fair or just; Be aware of your rights; Accept only what meets your rights; Protect yourself from any injustice or unfairness.

This hadith is about a situation that occurred during the rule of Ibn az-Zubayr, when Najdah al-Haruri performed hajj. He sent someone to ask Ibn Abbas about a portion of relatives in the fifth, which was known as mawaris or khums. The Messenger of Allah divided this among them, however Umar presented it to them but they found it less than their right and refused to accept it. This hadith teaches us that we should not accept anything that does not meet our rights and we should stand up for ourselves if something is not fair or just. We must also be aware of our rights so that we can protect ourselves from any injustice or unfairness.
