Sunan Abi Dawud 2925 (Book 19, Hadith 41) #23215
Upholding Pre-Islamic Alliances in Islam

SUMMARY: Islam does not allow for alliances, but it does recognize and uphold any alliances made before the advent of Islam.

Narrated Jubair b. Mu'tim: The Messenger of Allah as saying: There is no alliance in Islam, and Islam strengthened the alliance made during pre-Islamic days.

QUICK LESSONS:
Fulfill your promises/agreements with others regardless of whether they were made before or after becoming Muslim .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that while Islam does not allow for new alliances to be formed, it recognizes and upholds any alliance made during pre-Islamic days. This means that if two people or groups had an agreement before the advent of Islam, then they must still abide by this agreement even after becoming Muslim. This is because Allah has commanded us to fulfill our promises and agreements with others as part of our faith in Him. The Prophet Muhammad also taught us that we should always keep our word and never break a promise or agreement once we have given it, regardless of whether it was made before or after becoming Muslim. By upholding these pre-Islamic agreements, Muslims are showing their commitment to justice and fairness even when dealing with non-Muslims.
