Sunan Abi Dawud 2924 (Book 19, Hadith 40) #23214
Abrogation of Inheritance Rights

SUMMARY: This hadith explains the abrogation of a verse in the Quran which states that a bedouin who did not migrate to Medina did not inherit from an emigrant, and an emigrant did no inherit from him.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Referring to the verse: "Those who believed and adopted exile. As to those who believed but came not into exile": A bedouin (who did not migrate to Medina) did not inherit from an emigrant, and an emigrant did no inherit from him. It was abrogated by the verse: "But kindred by blood have prior rights against each other".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect your relatives and prioritize them even if you live far away from them.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the abrogation of a verse in the Quran which states that a bedouin who did not migrate to Medina does not have any inheritance rights over an emigrant, and vice versa. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ explained that this was later abrogated by another verse in the Quran which states that kindred by blood have prior rights against each other when it comes to inheritance. This means that even if someone is a bedouin or an emigrant, they still have rights over their family members when it comes to inheritance. It is important for us to remember this teaching as it shows us how important our family ties are and how we should prioritize them even if we are living far away from them.
