Inheritance for Grandmothers

SUMMARY: Grandmothers should be given a sixth of the inheritance if there is no mother left to inherit.

Narrated Buraydah: The Prophet appointed a sixth to a grandmother if no mother is left to inherit before her.

QUICK LESSONS:
Look out for our elders and make sure they are provided for even after we have passed away.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that if a person passes away and leaves behind no mother, then their grandmother should receive a sixth of the inheritance. This is an important teaching as it ensures that grandmothers are taken care of in times of need. It also shows us how much importance was placed on family ties and taking care of one another in Islam. This hadith teaches us to look out for our elders and make sure they are provided for, even after we have passed away.
